First days
Kansas City newborn photography, handled by specialists
The first two weeks pass exactly once. Our Kansas City newborn photographers are dedicated newborn specialists — trained in safe posing, patient with feeding breaks, and equipped with the wraps, props, and warm studio setups that make those curled-up sleepy portraits possible.

What a newborn session includes
Newborn sessions are unhurried by design — typically two to three hours in a warm studio or your own home, paced entirely around the baby. Expect a mix of posed setups (wraps, textured layers, simple props) and natural lifestyle frames, plus parent and sibling shots if you'd like them. Safety comes first in every pose: supported heads, spotters for anything elevated, and composites for the poses that only look freehand.
You'll receive a professionally edited gallery — skin tones smoothed, baby acne retouched — delivered digitally with print rights.
Timing is everything
The ideal window is days five through fourteen, while babies are still sleepy and curl naturally. That means booking during pregnancy: reserve a flexible slot around your due date, and we adjust once baby arrives. Older newborns and infants absolutely still photograph beautifully — the style just shifts from posed-sleepy toward awake, expressive baby portrait sessions.
Many parents bundle a maternity session in the third trimester with the newborn slot — same photographer, consistent style across both galleries.
In-studio or in-home
Studio sessions offer controlled warmth, full prop wardrobes, and consistent light. In-home lifestyle sessions trade props for authenticity — the nursery you designed, the dog meeting the baby, real morning light through your own windows. Both are priced the same way; see the packages page for tiers, then reserve your due-date window.
Siblings, pets, and the shots families forget to ask for
Sibling frames are the ones that stop parents scrolling years later — and they're also the trickiest, so we schedule them first in the session while toddler patience is at its peak, then release the big sibling back to normal life. Dogs are welcome at in-home sessions and photograph wonderfully beside a bassinet with a handler nearby. And the most-forgotten request: parents in the frame. Mothers especially tend to opt out of photos in the newborn weeks; the specialists we assign will gently insist on at least a few frames of each parent holding the baby, because in ten years those are the images that matter most.
Fresh 48 sessions, for the very first hours
One more option worth knowing: the 'Fresh 48' — a short documentary session at the hospital in baby's first day or two, capturing the tiny details (hospital bracelet, first swaddle, grandparents meeting the baby) before anyone goes home. It's unposed by nature, gentler in scope than a full newborn session, and pairs with one beautifully: Fresh 48 for the story, studio session for the portraits. If that appeals, mention it when reserving your due-date window and the desk will plan both.

Reserve your due-date window
Newborn calendars are held loosely around due dates, so the earlier you reach out, the safer your spot. Tell us your due date and whether you prefer studio or in-home.
