What to wear on camera (and how retouching is handled)

Wear solid, mid-tone colors that contrast with the backdrop — jewel tones and navy are reliable; bright white, busy patterns, and logo-wear are not. Necklines matter more than brands on a tight crop, layers like jackets and blazers add structure, and anything that needs constant adjusting will show it. Bring a second option; the change takes thirty seconds and doubles your usable looks.

On retouching: the standard is 'you on your best day' — stray hairs, temporary blemishes, and lint are removed, while the features that make you recognizable stay untouched. How often should a headshot be updated?
